Hawaiʻi Graduates for Hawaiʻi’s Future
In 2022, the Hawaiʻi P-20 Council, composed of education, business, and community leaders, developed the statewide goal “Hawaiʻi’s Graduates for Hawaiʻi’s Future” to align the education pipeline to Hawaiʻi’s workforce needs. This session will present an overview of sector specific equity goals under Hawaiʻi Graduates for Hawaiʻi’s Future and the metrics that will track students’ progress towards those goals. The Hawaiʻi State Department of Education and University of Hawaiʻi will preview some of their sector’s metrics and discuss how data will guide each agency in improving Hawaiʻi’s Graduates’ outcomes.

Moving the Needle: Effective Uses of Data in Evolving and Growing Hawaiʻi’s Early College Program
Since the inception of the Early College program in Hawaiʻi, data has been critical to program design and improvement efforts and partnership discussions between the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education, University of Hawaiʻi System, and Hawaiʻi P-20 Partnerships for Education. This session will highlight key examples of Early College “data in action,” including initial program design, use of program outcomes to secure legislative funding, strategic planning efforts, and promoting equitable program access and student success. Presenters will share sample data reports that are annually provided to high school and UH campus partners, as well as examples of how program data has spurred reflection, dialogue, and improvements.

UHCC: Using Data to Help Meet Statewide Workforce Needs
The University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges (UHCC) play a critical role in preparing students for living wage, in demand jobs in the state of Hawaiʻi. With the support of federal grants, the UHCC has developed the Good Jobs Hawaiʻi initiative to offer short-term training in Healthcare, Technology, and Skilled Trades. Learn about how this exciting project uses new and existing data to improve the ways the UHCCs partner with local industries to meet statewide workforce needs.

How Sector Partnerships Have Utilized Data for Decision Making and Employer Engagement
Industry, K-12, and Higher Education are collaborating in new and impactful ways to put Hawaiʻi’s young people onto career pathways into in-demand, high wage careers. This work is happening in Sector Partnerships, employer-led collaboratives that are focused on industry-specific Kindergarten-to-Career Pathway projects. Learn how labor market data and employer qualitative data play a pivotal role in this talent development work and get a glimpse into the metrics being used to measure success and impact.

Mathematics Achievement through Hawaiʻi’s Education Pipeline
Hawaiʻi P-20 Partnerships for Education and the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) recently collaborated with other subject matter experts to better understand Hawaiʻi’s student math outcomes and predictors of those outcomes throughout the education to workforce pipeline. This session will discuss several key transition points along the pipeline through an equity-focused lens; include an overview of the goals that can support Hawaiʻi in addressing persistent inequities in mathematics performance; and engage participants in sharing strategies and suggestions of how to take action by using data.
