The overall goal of the Hawai'i Data eXchange Partnership is to create a fully operational Pre-K through workforce cross-agency, longitudinal data system with stakeholders that effectively use data to inform statewide, agency, and programmatic decision-making. This project has three main objectives:
As the SEA (State Education Agency), the Hawai'i Department of Education (HIDOE) is the grantee; however since 2009, the P20W Statewide Longitudinal Data System (P20W SLDS) has been developed with in-kind resources by HIDOE, the university of Hawai'i (UH) and the Department of Labor & Industrial Relations (DLIR). By partner agreement, Hawai'i P-20 Partnerships for Education (Hawai'i P-20), an administrative unit of UH, is responsible for the state's long term development, implementation and maintenance of the statewide longitudinal data system.
The stakeholder partner agencies recognize that building a technical data system is not enough. This system must be used by stakeholders. The objectives as outlined by this grant focuses partner efforts towards achieving increased data use, as well as developing stakeholder understanding of the role and use of data in informing programmatic and agency goals and objectives.
